love letters

my dear friend jeremy came up with this idea. although i call him "dear" i have only known jeremy a short while. i don't know if he thinks of me as a "dear" friend, in fact its possible that i bug him because i talk so much. anyhow, i call him dear because he is one of few people i have met are so genuinly kind. if gentleman were really a useful word that actually meant what it implied, i think jeremy would in fact be one of them before many people would.

anyhow, he came up with this idea:

when you lock up your bike at work or school or somewhere there are other bikes locked, or pass a bike on the street, if you see one that is stunning, or that you wish you had, or that you just love the design of, or how the owner keeps it, write a note.

a pretty bike deserves a love letter, and why not write one to it.

goals

here's where i want to list my goals, so i'm going to do it.

since i moved to new york i wanted to start riding my bike. it rains sometimes, and as of now i wouldn't feel comfortable riding in the city in the rain, but otherwise i think i'm brave (or crazy) enough to do it.

right now i am building turn signals and brakelights with superbrite leds and microcontrollers for my bicycle. my friends at school thought of the idea and we are working on it together. i want this endeavor to bleed into my clothing, as we have discussed building some wearable option stuff as well. i also want to add a motor to my bike. there are some really cool options out there, but in the spirit of green, i want to find one that can run on vegetable oil and power a small wheel which will track onto the back wheel of my bike and carry me up the small slopes of the city. I want to be able to ride over the manhattan bridge with vehicular traffic.

that's all for now... but more oh more very very soon.
